PU foam OCF Feica.
FEICA's first Good Practice stories published. Polyurethane one-component foam OCF technology. One-component foam manufacturers representing more than 90% of the market in Europe are members of FEICA. These OCF manufacturers work together within FEICA to develop standards and professionalise the industry. An important achievement of the group has been the development of standardised test methods which allow the performance of OCF products to be measured compared and communicated in an accurate manner for the first time. One-component foams helping make modern buildings better.

The Making of Polyurethane Milliken Chemical.
What do your car seat and your vacuum filter have in common? Both heavily rely on polyurethane foam. In fact flexible PU foam shows up in everything from gym mats to bicycle handgrips seat cushions to carpet underlay. And Milliken Chemicals Reactint colorants and Milliguard antioxidants help make those PU products more beautiful safe and cost-effective. Taking stock of the myriad items that contain PU foam one soon realizes that polyurethane is fundamental to everyday function and comfort. PU foam is made from reacting diisocynates and polyols. Chemical engineers usually derive both from crude oil however some polyols may be made from natural oils from renewable sources.

What is polyurethane foam? Europur.
As simple explanation manufacturers make polyurethane foam by reacting polyols and diisocyanates both products derived from crude oil. A series of additives are necessary to produce high-quality PU foam products depending on the application the foam will be used for. Each form of polyurethane foam has many uses. EUROPUR represents the producers of flexible polyurethane foam blocks used in the applications presented on this website bedding furniture automotive and many others. Some flexible PU foams are also moulded especially for use in the automotive sector mainly for car seats. For more information on moulded foam applications please visit the website of Euro-Moulders the European association of manufacturers of moulded polyurethane parts for the automotive industry.
Polyurethane Wikipedia.
This is of particular interest in the area of polyurethane coatings where light stability is a critical factor and is the main reason that aliphatic isocyanates are used in making polyurethane coatings. When PU foam which is made using aromatic isocyanates is exposed to visible light it discolors turning from off-white to yellow to reddish brown. It has been generally accepted that apart from yellowing visible light has little effect on foam properties. 49 50 This is especially the case if the yellowing happens on the outer portions of a large foam as the deterioration of properties in the outer portion has little effect on the overall bulk properties of the foam itself.
